Meet Our Founder

Two decades ago, Dr. Jagdeep Garewal embarked on a mission fueled by compassion and a drive for innovation. Witnessing the stark contrast in healthcare accessibility between rural and urban areas, he recognized the profound underservice and sought to make a difference. Understanding the hurdles faced by clinics in addressing these disparities, he envisioned the transformative potential of telehealth. Having undergone advanced training during his chief resident years at Kansas University Medical Center, he undertook telehealth as an early solution to help underserved communities.

Telehealth has evolved significantly over the years in terms of quality, scope, and adaptability. Under the direction of Dr. Garewal, Nexa Behavioral Health has been at the forefront with its innovation and pioneering efforts in telehealth using EMRs to ensure that individuals, regardless of their location, can access top-tier, specialized care. Dr. Garewal’s legacy is one of compassion, capability, and unwavering dedication to transforming healthcare for all.

Meet Our Leadership Team

Dr. Garewal is a board-certified psychiatrist and the founder of PMPI, with over two decades of experience advancing telepsychiatry and expanding access to behavioral healthcare. Since launching telemedicine services in 2003, he has led innovative efforts in virtual care and healthcare technology while practicing across private practice, inpatient psychiatry, correctional medicine, and community mental health. A graduate of Gandhi Medical College with residency training at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Dr. Garewal is recognized for his compassionate leadership, clinical expertise, and commitment to improving access to quality mental healthcare.

Jagdeep Garewal, MD

CEO & Medical Director

Gary Garewal brings over 34 years of leadership experience across hospitality, real estate, healthcare, and finance. As Chief Operating Officer (COO), he leads daily operations, drives strategic growth, and focuses on operational excellence, team performance, and organizational efficiency. With degrees in Political Science, Hotel Management, and Management, along with his credentials as a licensed real estate broker and Realtor, Gary combines strong strategic vision with hands-on leadership. Outside of work, he enjoys golfing, spending time with family, and working on cars.

Chief Operation Officer

Edward Varley is the National Sales Manager at PMPI, where he helps expand access to high-quality virtual psychiatric care. With over 20 years of experience in sales, marketing, and business leadership, including healthcare and nonprofit sectors, he specializes in business development, strategic partnerships, and scalable growth initiatives. A UC Berkeley graduate with a B.A. in Political Science, Edward is also an avid traveler, photographer, and food enthusiast.

Joana Ramos is a healthcare operations leader with over 20 years of experience in clinical support and pharmaceutical settings. As Clinical Operations Manager, she oversees daily clinical operations, provider onboarding, scheduling, and workflow management while ensuring efficient, high-quality patient care. Known for her collaborative leadership and operational expertise, Joana is passionate about expanding access to behavioral healthcare. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and dogs, mixed martial arts, swimming, and traveling.

Brandi Tilmon is a healthcare professional with over 20 years of experience in clinical operations, executive support, and healthcare administration. As Senior Executive Assistant, she partners with leadership to streamline operations, coordinate strategic initiatives, and support organizational growth. With a background in case management, behavioral health, and executive operations, Brandi brings a patient-centered approach and strong operational expertise to advancing high-quality behavioral healthcare.

Jessica is the Director of the Clinical Administrative Team at Nexa Behavioral Health, where she leads compliance, quality improvement, and clinical operations to enhance patient-centered behavioral healthcare. With over 20 years of experience in health and human services, she specializes in behavioral health administration, program development, and expanding access to care. Jessica holds a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology and is currently pursuing her Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.), bringing a collaborative, innovation-driven approach to leadership.
